3 important rules for vegetable garden sowing
When sowing for the vegetable garden, there are three important, but fortunately simple rules that make sowing easier. Also read the tips for sowing in open ground.

The larger the seeds, the deeper they should be sown. Broad beans, for example, are quite large and are sown at least five centimeters deep. Lettuce seeds are small and are sown no deeper than a half to one centimeter.
Do not sow too densely, because then the plants will become elongated, not sturdy enough and therefore susceptible to diseases. Therefore mix fine seed with moist sand and then sow them. Or purchase a special seed spreader, adjustable to the size of the seeds.
After sowing, press the soil well and make it moist. Never use a hard water jet for this, but for example a watering can with an upturned nozzle head. This reduces the risk of the seed being washed away.
